John Buckingham Solana Medspas
John Buckingham graduated from Purdue University, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, and Harvard Business School, where he earned his Master of Business Administration. While in school, John Buckingham served as President of the InterFraternity Council and the Sigma Chi Fraternity and was named runner-up for Outstanding Senior. At Harvard Business School, John Buckingham specialized in marketing and strategy and was a member of the Harvard Business School Association, an alumni network.
He launched his 30-year career while still at Harvard, establishing a new division of Colgate Palmolive during his summer job. He went on to found the largest medical spa chain in the country in 2004, Solana MedSpas, Inc. Solana’s business model is that of a modified franchise and markets its products, spa services and noninvasive aesthetic procedures, in 50 states. After the sale of that company in 2007 to a private equity firm, John Buckingham went on to found the group purchasing organization MedResults in 2008. Mr. Buckingham's second company sells, at discounted prices, medical supplies to its customers. Also in 2008, the Sigma Chi fraternity conferred upon him its Significant Sig Award for his business achievements, and he delivered the keynote address at the Medical Aesthetics Conference & Exposition; his talk was titled “The Evolution & Revolution of the Medical Aesthetics Industry.”
In total, John Buckingham has served as CEO and Chief Marketing Officer of seven companies and brought his expertise to several universities, where he has taught various marketing-related courses. Currently, John Buckingham is Marketing Professor at Pepperdine University and a member of the full time faculty.
