Don Bernard

Donald Ray Bernard is a 21-year veteran of the United States Navy submarine service. He began his career as a commissioned Ensign and advanced through several promotions before retiring as a Commander in 1975. In addition to his service in the Navy, Don Bernard spent much of his time in the air. For 10 years, Mr. Bernard was an air show demonstration pilot in the Commemorative Air Force, a Texas-based nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and demonstrating historical aircraft. To this day, Mr. Bernard maintains a commercial pilot license and is capable of handling 41 different models of aircraft, such as propeller-driven planes, turboprops, and jets. Don Bernard currently serves as a volunteer search pilot in Montana.

In addition to his service in the Navy and his contributions in the air, Don Bernard maintained a long and successful career as a law professional. He served as a Briefing Attorney for the Supreme Court of Texas in Austin and was also an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Texas. Don Bernard was a Partner at Bernard & Bernard in Houston for almost 20 years before opening a private practice. After 14 years at his own practice, Mr. Bernard turned to education, holding the title of Professor of International Law at the University of St. Thomas - Houston. Don Bernard also contributed to a number of professional journals and served as a delegate for the first joint bar conference between American and Soviet lawyers in Moscow in the late 1980s.

Don Bernard is a member of the American Bar Association and the Texas Bar Association, and he is a former President of the Lawyers Society of Houston. Today, Mr. Bernard spends much of his time in the Pampas and Patagonia regions of Argentina as co-owner of Golden Stag Safaris and Chairman and Vice President of Estancia Laguna Verde, which serve fly fisherman and big game hunters from around the world.
